Loading BATTERY36
To load BATTERY36, you need to open the Battery 4 browser, which is located on the left-hand side of the software interface. If you can not see the browser, click the magnifier symbol within the Battery 4 menu to make it visible[^2^].
In the browser, you can navigate through the different categories and subcategories of the factory library. You can also use the search function to find BATTERY36 by typing its name in the search bar. Once you find it, double-click on it or drag and drop it onto the main window of Battery 4. You will see the kit loaded with 16 cells, each containing a different sound.
Playing BATTERY36
You can play BATTERY36 using your mouse, your computer keyboard, or a MIDI controller. To play with your mouse, simply click on the cells. To play with your computer keyboard, use the keys from A to L and from Q to U. To play with a MIDI controller, make sure it is connected and configured correctly in your DAW or standalone application.
You can also use the sequencer mode to create patterns with BATTERY36. To activate the sequencer mode, click on the SEQ button on the top right corner of Battery 4. You will see a grid where you can draw steps for each cell. You can adjust the tempo, swing, length, and resolution of your pattern using the controls below the grid. You can also save and load patterns using the buttons on the top left corner of Battery 4.
Editing BATTERY36
One of the great features of Battery 4 is that you can edit each cell individually or in groups. To edit a cell, click on it and use the tabs on the right-hand side of Battery 4 to access different parameters. You can adjust the volume, pitch, pan, envelope, filter, LFO, saturation, EQ, compression, transient shaping, reverb, and more for each cell[^1^]. You can also change the sample mode from classic sampler to groovebox emulation or other options for different tonal varieties[^1^].
To edit multiple cells at once, you can use the group function. To create a group, select two or more cells by holding down Shift or Ctrl/Cmd and clicking on them. Then right-click on one of them and choose Create Group from the menu. You will see a new tab appear on the right-hand side of Battery 4 with a letter corresponding to your group. You can rename your group by double-clicking on its tab. You can then edit all the cells in your group using the same tabs as for individual cells.
You can also apply effects to your cells, groups of cells or to the master outs. Battery 4 comes with powerful on-board effects such as SOLID EQ, SOLID BUS COMP, TRANSIENT MASTER, tape saturation, LoFi, and a powerful convolution reverb[^1^]. To apply an effect, drag and drop it from the effects list on the bottom right corner of Battery 4 onto a cell, a group tab or a master tab. You can create chains, re-order effects and sidechain with drag-and-drop ease on four busses and the master channel[^1^].
